SOM Alumnus Wins Ashoka and Aspen Institute Award

gregJ. Gregory Dees, SOM’81, received the 2007-2008 Ashoka Award for Lifetime Achievement in Social Entrepreneurship Education. The award is given once a year among the Aspen Institute’s Faculty Pioneer Awards, which recognize exceptional business school faculty who integrate social and environmental issues into their teaching and research. Professor Dees is the Faculty Director of the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He has also been instrumental in the establishment of programs in social entrepreneurship at Harvard and Stanford universities. In addition to his institution building work, he has written numerous cases, articles, chapters, and other materials on the topic of social entrepreneurship, and is the author of two books, Enterprising Nonprofits and Strategic Tools for Social Entrepreneurs.
