Construction Update: Framing Completed
There might not have been any fanfare at the construction site for Edward P. Evans Hall on February 10, but the date was a significant one in the history of Yale SOM’s new campus. It was the day the building was “topped out,” when the last beam of structural steel was fastened in place. As winter transitions to spring, construction will continue at an aggressive pace, with crucial work both on the inside and outside of the 242,000-square-foot building.
Construction Update: December 2011
The shape of Edward P. Evans Hall, the new Yale SOM campus, is becoming visible. Since October, workers have been bolting in the 4,750 pieces of steel that will make up the skeleton of Evans Hall. The steel already in place is starting to give a sense of the building’s internal and external structures, including a distinctive curved space at the southwest corner that will house the largest classroom.

The forms currently rising on the 4.25-acre site of the new Yale SOM campus are known as sheer walls. Designed to provide structural support to the building, they’ll hold stairways, elevators, and vents. They don’t yet present a picture of what the finished building will look like. But that will soon change.
Edward P. Evans Hall Overview and Project Status
Over the next two years, the 242,000-square-foot Edward P. Evans Hall will rise at the northern end of the Yale University campus. The building, with a striking modern design, glass façade, and large courtyard, will serve as the home for the Yale School of Management and will take its place among the architectural landmarks that already distinguish the Yale campus.

About 100 of the people who have made possible the construction of Edward P. Evans Hall, the new Yale School of Management campus, gathered at the site of the school’s future home on Tuesday, April 26, for a groundbreaking ceremony. The day, warm with a cloudless sky, echoed the sense of optimism in the crowd.
Yale Announces $50 Million Gift to Name School of Management’s New Campus
Yale University has received a $50 million commitment from a Yale College alumnus to support the construction of a new state-of-the-art campus for its School of Management (SOM), President Richard C. Levin ’74 Ph.D. announced today. Edward P. (Ned) Evans is a member of the Yale College Class of 1964. His gift—the largest in SOM’s history—will be recognized with the naming of the new facility as Edward P. Evans Hall.
Investor Wilbur Ross Makes Major Gift to Support New Yale SOM Campus
Wilbur L. Ross YC ‘59, the CEO and chairman of WL Ross & Co. LLC, has pledged $10 million to support the construction of the new Yale SOM campus. Ross’s gift, among the largest by an individual backing the new campus, is directed toward the library in the new building, which will be a state-of-the-art facility supporting teaching and research.
